FAQs
How many sessions will I need to have in total?
I can work with clients in both short-term and long-term therapy. Our plan and timeline depends on multiple factors including your preferences and needs, goals, and expectations. I am invested in making it work for you while also being thorough and realistic so that you have the best chance of benefitting from therapy and am happy to talk openly and transparently about our progress.
Are you offering in-person sessions?
Currently all sessions are offered through telehealth through a HIPAA compliant version of Zoom. If you are interested in in-person sessions, please let me know as I will be offering limited in-person sessions soon.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, as a clinical psychologist, I do not prescribe medications but can talk to you about the potential benefits and risks to help in your decision making and help to refer you to a qualified psychiatrist or nurse practitioner. If you are prescribed medication, it will be important for me to communicate with your prescriber to best coordinate and ensure the quality of your care.
What if I can not afford your fee and what is sliding scale?
I currently only accept Aetna insurance plans through Headway. For all other insurance plans, I am considered an out-of-network provider. However, many insurance plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network services. You can check to see how much you could be reimbursed for my services with this tool from Mentaya, click HERE. I can assist with submitting claims for reimbursement to help make to process easier on your end and so you can focus more on therapy.
Reimbursify is another resource that can help simplify the reimbursement process for out-of-network mental health care.
I can provide you with all the necessary documentation (superbills) to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement to make your out of pocket payment more manageable. My standard fees are set as fair and comparable to typical fees in the NYC area and cover living costs in addition to the overhead costs of the practice and professional licensure fees. I am happy to discuss my fees with you to see if we can come up with a payment plan that works, or I can help provide you with good lower cost referrals. I value offering accessible high-quality care to those in need and may have limited reserved scholarships and reduced fee spots. I am committed to offering mentoring and supervision to psychologists in training, particularly from marginalized groups, and understand the financial constraints present during graduate training and early career. Please reach out to discuss options to receive reimbursement or to see if you qualify for an adjusted rate.
How does scheduling work?
The first step is to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if it seems like a good fit, ask questions, and discuss potential next steps. After our initial phone consultation, if you want to schedule a first session, we will schedule that directly for a 60 minute intake session. This is a more in-depth meeting to gather important background information to better identify your goals, needs, and targets for therapy as well as to review necessary documents, policies, and your patient rights. Following the intake, you will be scheduled for recurring 45 or 60 minute sessions depending on the type therapy session. Group therapy participation will involve an initial consultation and screening to assess the fit for the group and to discuss preparation for joining.
