Dr. Kalli Feldman, Ph.D., PMH-C (she/her)
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and owner of Centered Living Psychological Services PLLC based in New York City. I am passionate about helping women and mothers learn how to meet their genuine needs, care for themselves, and build a life that feels authentic and joyful. The majority of my practice focuses on breaking distressing cycles and patterns created by past relationships where one learned to disconnect from their own needs and emotions often to care for or prioritize the needs of others. My approach is trauma-focused and integrates relational and dialectical behavior therapy, creating and holding space for emotions and pain that often has been locked up, and empowering women by introducing new ways to cope and new ways to relate to oneself, one’s emotions, and their relationships.
I am committed to supporting and empowering women and have decades of experience in the area of women’s mental health across the lifespan. I recognize the need for adaptation and creativity based on each unique individual and family. I am dedicated to helping women and families through critical life transitions, heal and break cycles of generational trauma, and believe that improving our own lives and how we soothe and regulate our emotions spreads to those around us for generations to come. I balance acceptance and change, spending time to explore, understand, and validate while also building your skills to better cope and respond in ways that are aligned with your values and needs.
I am skilled in a variety of evidence-based interventions including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness and acceptance-based interventions, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy, and relational therapy. I am a certified perinatal mental health provider through Postpartum Support International with well over a decade of experience working with pregnant and postpartum women and families from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances. Transitioning to motherhood or parenthood at any phase can be an exciting and vulnerable time that warrants additional support, reflection, and sometimes problem-solving. I can help you navigate these critical periods whether you are in the preparation and planning phases, struggling with infertility or loss, or currently pregnant or in the postpartum period.
I am also a registered Circle of Security Parenting facilitator, recognizing the immense need and value of supporting parents as a larger social and community responsibility. Parenting is one of the most challenging and humbling experiences with constant changes, unknowns, and opportunities for self-doubt or self-criticism. Interactions with our children whether as babies or young adults can sometimes be triggering, activating very deep vulnerable parts of us. Whether overwhelmed with demands or noticing that past patterns or events from our own childhood are arising, parents deserve space and support to cope with and navigate these experiences both for their own sense of self and self-worth as well as the overall well being of their families.
Over the course of my career, I have taught, supervised, and presented at academic and professional conferences in the areas of evidence-based practices and programming for perinatal and reproductive mental health, DBT, racial identity development, attachment and parenting, culturally inclusive interventions and supervision, and transracial adoption among others. I am committed to the role of mentorship and supervision, connecting and cultivating community, and deeply invested in ongoing education, reflection, and self-development. As an individual with multiple intersecting identities myself, I am invested in the impact and need for systemic change to empower and support individuals and families, break generational cycles, and promote healing and growth.
